Now Lenovo-owned Motorola is back with the first of its G8 range of devices. This is the £239 (€269 or about $306) Motorola Moto G8 Plus, which sits at the top end of the affordable G-series lineup thanks to its more powerful processor and higher-resolution main camera. It’s available in Europe, Australia, Mexico, and Latin America, but it’s not currently scheduled to release in the US.
The Moto G8 Plus follows on from the Moto G7 Plus, which arrived just eight months earlier in 2019. The company’s popular G-series phones focus on providing the best possible experience at a budget price point, spearheaded by a neat, stock Android interface. They’ve been among our best cheap phones for a number of years now.
The Moto G8 Plus brings more value to the table with a versatile camera system, stereo speakers, minimal bezel and efficient battery management.
Due to the recent developments in the budget smartphone segment, we’re seeing an influx of features trickling down from the high-end phones, and as a result, there’s much more to experience with low-cost phones today.
Motorola’s latest phone goes forward with the same principle, bringing in a 48MP triple camera setup to the roster and fast charging tech. But is it powerful enough to make a dent in the most populous smartphone segment? Let’s find out.
The Motorola Moto G8 Plus runs Android Pie and is powered by a 4000mAh non-removable battery. The Motorola Moto G8 Plus supports proprietary fast charging.
As far as the cameras are concerned, the Motorola Moto G8 Plus on the rear packs a 48-megapixel primary camera with an f/1.79 aperture; a second 16-megapixel camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a third 5-megapixel camera with an f/2.2 aperture. The rear camera setup has autofocus. It sports a 25-megapixel camera on the front for selfies, with an f/2.0 aperture.
Motorola Moto G8 Plus based on Android Pie and packs 64GB of inbuilt storage that can be expanded via microSD card (up to 512GB). The Motorola Moto G8 Plus is a dual-SIM smartphone that accepts Nano-SIM and Nano-SIM cards.
Connectivity options on the Motorola Moto G8 Plus include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, GPS, Bluetooth v5.00, USB Type-C, FM radio, 3G, and 4G (with support for Band 40 used by some LTE networks in India) with active 4G on both SIM cards.
